According to sources, the project is currently in development at Red Chillies Entertainment.
A source close to the development revealed, “Main Hoon Na was Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s first production under Red Chillies Entertainment. The film remains very special to them. Farah has come up with a concept for Main Hoon Na 2, and Shah Rukh Khan is intrigued by the direction she wants to take.” The source further added that Farah is working with a team of writers, including those from Red Chillies, to finalize the screenplay.
Shah Rukh Khan Excited but Cautious About the Sequel
While Shah Rukh Khan is excited about the idea of Main Hoon Na 2, he is also cautious about greenlighting the project. “SRK does not want to make a sequel just for the sake of it. He understands the nostalgic value Main Hoon Na holds for fans. He has asked Farah Khan and his in-house writers to create a script that surpasses the original film’s impact,” the insider shared.
The source further added, “Shah Rukh Khan is expected to hear the first draft of Main Hoon Na 2 by mid-2025. Only after a compelling script is finalized, he will decide on proceeding with the film.” The project is currently in the writing phase, with a focus on delivering a sequel that lives up to audience expectations.
