Sunny Deol Confirms Role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: “It’s Inspired by Avatar and Planet of the Apes”

Sunny Deol has confirmed his role in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, a groundbreaking two-part epic inspired by Avatar and Planet of the Apes.

Sunny Deol has officially confirmed his participation in Nitesh Tiwari’s highly anticipated Ramayana, putting months of speculation to rest. Speaking at SCREEN Live in Mumbai, the Gadar 2 star shared insights about the ambitious two-part project, which promises to redefine Indian cinema with its scale and innovative technology.

“This is a long-term project because they are crafting it like Avatar and Planet of the Apes,” Sunny revealed. He added that top-tier technicians from around the world are contributing to the epic saga. While Sunny refrained from disclosing his character, rumors strongly hint that he will play Hanuman.

A Grand Vision for Indian Cinema

Director Nitesh Tiwari, known for Dangal, is leading the project alongside producer Namit Malhotra. Together, they aim to create a visually stunning adaptation of the ancient Indian epic. Sunny emphasized that the movie would use high-quality special effects to create a sense of realism, avoiding pitfalls like those seen in Adipurush.

“The special effects will be so authentic that viewers will feel the events are genuinely unfolding rather than CGI-driven,” Sunny explained.

Ranbir Kapoor Confirms Role as Ram

Sunny’s announcement follows Ranbir Kapoor’s confirmation that he will play Ram in the franchise. Speaking at the Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah, Ranbir shared that he has already completed filming for the first part and will begin work on the second installment soon.

The film’s star-studded cast also includes Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, and Kannada superstar Yash as Ravan. With such talent on board, the project is shaping up to be one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious endeavors.

Release Timeline

The first part of Ramayana is set to release during Diwali 2026, followed by the second part in 2027. As anticipation grows, fans can expect a revolutionary cinematic experience that stays true to the spirit of the epic.
